HELP YOUR SELF
The Holiday Chaos Edition
The end of the year is the perfect time to abandon the myth of balance, at least the more obvious kind. Someone said to me that “balance” isn’t necessarily about a day, but about the arc of your life. You could have a year or two (or more) that don’t look balanced at all, but maybe things settle down and come to a more balanced place. Maybe you go from a party girl to a monk. I don’t know, the point is the canned, algorithmic bs we see online is all talk. A week may look crazy; the next may look calm. I think being able to ground yourself in whatever is going down is really the key. It isn’t so much about having every day look five stars.
My whole schtick is balance, yes, but let’s be honest: sometimes balance around the holidays looks decidedly unbalanced and a little wacky. Sometimes it looks tired and a little fried. Sometimes it looks moody. Sometimes it looks like a plate with too many desserts or an extra glass of wine that you definitely didn’t need. Sometimes it looks like a family meltdown.
This is the season of leaning in. Of letting your nervous system take a nap while your taste buds have their way with you. And if anyone asks, just tell them your wellness coach (me) told you it’s therapeutic. Which it actually is.
So, consider this your (and my own!) push! into holiday ease. And a teaser for Help Your Self, my book I’ve been obsessing over for the past few years. Everyone keeps calling it a “wellness book,” and fine, yes, that’s technically true. But what they don’t know is that it’s also packed with recipes I’ve been making forever, recipes that are suspiciously good for holiday gatherings. That are not just juices or salads. The kind that make people think you’re “effortlessly hosting” when really you’re just following instructions. They’ve all been created by me and actually tested by a 3rd party, so you’re not going to be led off the recipe cliff.
These are all in the book!
